    Government of Canada joins Global Ocean Alliance to reach 30% marine protection by 2030

    The Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, the Honourable Bernadette Jordan, announced Canada has joined the United Kingdom and other countries in the Global Ocean Alliance.

    Transport Canada announces updated COVID-19 measures pertaining to cruise ships and passenger vessels in Canadian waters

    To help limit the spread of COVID-19, cruise ships with overnight accommodations allowed to carry more than 100 persons are prohibited from operating in Canadian waters until October 31, 2020.

    The Nunavut Marine Council has provided advice to the Government of Canada regarding a ban on the use and carriage of heavy fuel oil as fuel by ships operating in Arctic waters.
